1066 and the Battle of Hastings
Sussex historians Keith Foord and Neil Clephane Cameron analyse afresh the political factors which brought Harold and William to their epic encounter on 14 October 1066. Packed with facts, interpretation and illustration, the work contains many original new maps and diagrams of the medieval Sussex coastline, which help us understand how the local geography influenced the battle.
1066 and the Battle of Hastings can be bought now, priced £14, from Battle Museum of Local History and the Old Post Office on the Abbey Green. From 30 September it will also be available from the Rye Bookshop and from Much Ado About Books in Alfriston. To get a postal copy go to http://www.cpibookdelivery.com or email the Historical Society direct at firstname.lastname@example.org.
